It will convert it from avi to vob if you are converting it..  If your avi is 700MB, it will probably end up as 4.36 GB when converted and will fit on a #5 DVD disk

hey guys i got a problem with convertx2dvd
i use version 3.3.4.106
so i add the video files
add subtitles and then i convert them to dvd
convertx converts the files properly but when i select burn to dvd it wait for a while and then gives burn process failed error.
i am burning on a 16x dvd-r . its not the best quality of dvd but its ok . my burning speeds at 4x
when i click the link on the error it takes me to the
vso forum which states that i am using cheap quality dvd so burning failed.
any idea what i could do?? ??

EDIT: i've figured out a temporary solution.i use the converted files and burn a video dvd on nero burning rom .and it plays alright.

but my question is what is wrong in burning with convertxtodvd?Huh??

it's probably a driver or firmware issue, since it worked with nero and not convertx... vso use their own burning driver which might be corrupted

run pcsetup.exe (C:\Program Files\VSO\PcSetup\PcSetup.exe).
if there's any errors, try reinstalling convertx, but use the clean tool first

Hello all,

I just installed convert x to my new computer, I have been using it on my old computer with no problems.
I burned a dvd and it finished okay, but it looks like it only used about 1/3 of the disc. Usually it expands it to the whole disc.
The original .avi was 700mb.
What am I missing ? I didnt change any settings..
Thanks in advance.

Go to settings, click encoding tab.
Choose high quality > long encoding time
In conversion priority choose below normal

I don't think yellow would be the color of choice unless you had all dark background through the whole movie.  I would stick to black.

I don't know what version you are using but the one that I have does not have an option call tv formats. 2.24g is going to take 2 hours to convert, what is up with this?

In version 3 under Settings-> DVD Menu, choose 'no menu' from the drop down.

To the poster who had subtitle problems the CXD sub editor only works with .srt files, not IDX/SUB.

With CXD 3 you set your TV format under Settings-> DVD Specification-> Format.  Choose either PAL or NTSC.  If you want faster conversions upgrade your computer.

I have 3 DVD players.   One of them won't play DVD+ so I have to make sure I am using DVD-   That might be your prob...
How old is your DVD player cuz the older ones did prefer just the DVD- disks.......

only thing i can think of is, is your home DVD player able to play DVD-R or whatever media you use? If its fairly old, then you will notice that they may not be compatible with each other. Let us know what DVD player you have and maybe we can take it from there.... Smiley

looks like Molly beat me to that Wink
